Black Rock Outdoor Company was created in 2020 by founder Dan Moar, just before the pandemic 😅
Dan has had a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors that started at a very young age. Growing up with rock pools literally a stones throw away from his back garden in the sleepy coastal village of Boddam in Scotland, adventure and learning opportunities were never far away. He has been learning, practicing and developing his skills in a more serious capacity for the last two decades, and started teaching them professionally, as an outdoor activity instructor in 2012
Alongside bushcraft, rockpooling & foraging, he has experience delivering many other activities such as abseiling, archery, axe throwing, body boarding, caving, coasteering, gorge walking, kayaking, MTB, SUP, team building ... the list goes on. However, after time it became apparent that his passion for teaching was entangled with Bushcraft, Rockpooling & Foraging
Although it is mainly Dan providing the experiences, occasionally other highly trained instructors will be called upon to run or assist on sessions

Woodland Forage & Feast
An exciting collaboration between professional forager Dan Moar & Cuddfan Feasts.
Cuddfan was created in early 2022 by KiteView Camping owner, Mark George and his partner Lily Evans a local chef. They provide unique dining experiences in their woodland Tipi using fresh, locally sourced, and foraged ingredients. Dan will be offering 2-3 hour foraging experience which will then be followed by a stunning 4 course meal from the Cuddfan team.
Cuddfan (pronounced cuth-van) means Hideaway in Welsh

An exciting collaboration between professional foragers Dan Moar & Matt Powell.
Annwn was created in 2021 by professional forager and chef, Matt Powell and his partner Naomi. They provide intimate fine dining experiences at the lovely Annwn restaurant in Pembrokeshire. As expected only fresh, locally sourced, and foraged ingredients make it on to their unique 7-10 course tasting menu. With Matt putting all of his time and focus into providing exceptional dishes that are giving the top Michelin star restaurants a run for their money, Dan is proud to have been asked to deliver the foraging experiences for Annwn's guests.
Annwn (pronounced A-noon) is a magical "other world" said to be the land of the fairies and other wonderful beings in Celtic mythology.
