Coastal Foraging Course

"This is a great way to explore our edible seashore"

This course is perfect for groups, couples or individuals wishing to learn new and exciting foraging skills in a coastal environment. During the course, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on as we teach you the wonders of Coastal Foraging.

Under 16s are more than welcome to attend free of charge under adult supervision, however this course is primarily aimed at adults due to the depth of information you will receive.

If you are looking for a kids activity, please see our Guided Rockpool Safari

What to expect...

This 4 or 6 hour course will begin with your guide Dan, meeting you at a specially selected, pre-determined location. You will be given a safety briefing and an introduction to what the course will entail. After the initial introductions are out of the way, then the real fun can begin! You will be lead across one of our picturesque beaches by your guide, who will be showing you the edible coastal treats that can be gathered. If conditions allow, you will have the option to cook up a meal on the beach using your foraged goodies, giving you a real taste for Coastal Foraging.

A typical Coastal Foraging Course will cover the following topics:

Edible Coastal Plants - Edible Sea Life - Edible Seaweeds

Sustainable Foraging - Habitat Identification - Coastal Cooking

Tidal Awareness & Safety

We will provide any necessary equipment, but feel free to bring refreshments and a camera to capture the memories! Sensible footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are a must for this course. Please note that a level of physical fitness will be required for most locations as we can cover quite a few miles, Let us know in advance if this will be an issue and we can try to plan a more suitable location. Also, public facilities are not available at all locations.

The course is open to people of all ages (under 16's must have an adult present)
