Hedgerow Foraging Courses

"This is a great way to explore our edible landscape"

This course is perfect for anyone wishing to learn new and exciting foraging skills focusing on the hedgerow. During the course, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on as we teach you the wonders of Hedgerow Foraging.

What to expect...

This 4 or 6 hour course will begin with your guide Dan, meeting you at a specially selected, pre-determined location. You will be given a safety briefing and an introduction to what the course will entail. After the initial introductions are out of the way, then the real fun can begin! You will be exploring our beautiful countryside with the help of your guide, who will be showing you the edible hedgerow treats that can be gathered. Depending on what is in season and ready to pick, you will have the option to graze on your foraged goodies throughout the course, or take them home to follow a recipe, giving you a real taste for Hedgerow Foraging.

A typical Hedgerow Foraging Course will cover the following topics:

Wild Edible Plants - Wild Deadable Plants - Plant & Tree Identification

Sustainable Foraging - Habitat Identification - The Law & Foraging

Wild Cooking (Depending upon season & location)

We will provide any necessary equipment, but feel free to bring refreshments and a camera to capture the memories! Sensible footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are a must for this course. Please note that a level of physical fitness will be required for most locations as we can cover quite a few miles. Let us know in advance if this will be an issue and we can try to plan a more suitable location. Also, public facilities are not available at all locations.

The course is open to people of all ages (under 16's must have an adult present)
